Finally! Winter!

You know what?! It is COLD! I mean 3 degrees of wind chilling, hair freezing, car won’t start COLD!! You know those wonderful days of clear skies, no snow and f-ing cold!!

As everyone says, this is the Binghamton we know and love! And although, the photos will show you a nice, pleasant day… don’t be fooled!

I would also like to add that it is a blessing that it’s finally this cold (global warming hasn’t won yet), but when I have 8:30 AM classes it’s not so fun to try to roll out of bed and face the bitter winter.

I hope you all enjoy the winter weather while it lasts! Hope it gets warmer for the upcoming holiday all you ladies love!!

Broadway Musicals!

I’m back posting after a long hiatus of sleeping, eating, pooping, sleeping, eating. You know the deal - Winter Break!!

One of the most exciting “hobbies” that I’ve picked up this break is watching Broadway Musicals! There are various musicals around Manhattan - Broadway, off-Broadway, plays. If you walk around Times Square, you’ll see many ads for various musicals.

Some examples in this photo are: Mama Mia!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

I’ve watched HairSpray, Avenue Q, Spamalot, and The Phantom of the Opera all in this winter break!

For the college student (with my taste of course) I’d suggest watching

One final note: Clay Aiken will be play the part of Birdway in Spamalot! So I suggest you empty you wallet soon!

Skiing at Binghamton University

Another great part of going to school in the Northeast is the SNOW and the SKIING. Greek Peak is the nearest Ski Slope to BU. It’s a 40 minute drive on I81 North. If you’re a student, there is a great discount for season passes. I started to ski about 6 years ago when I first came to Binghamton. There is a Ski and Ride club that has frequent bus trips to Greek Peak. Otherwise, you can brave the snow and drive to the mountain. It’s great there and rarely crowded. It’s a great place for beginners.

Here are some photos of the mountain.

Skiing is probably the greatest sport I’ve picked up since I’ve been in Binghamton University. It’s very rare to find a college that’s only 4 hours from NYC and 40 min from Ski Slopes.

BU Events Center

Check out our Upcoming Events at BU page!

There is a BU Women’s Basketball game coming up this Wednesday, Nov 28th! BU Basketball games are fun. It gets pretty packed and there is alot of excitement in the crowd.

This year is our 8th year in Division 1, so Baxter the Bearcat (our mascot) celebrated his 8th Birthday with his other mascot buddies!

Here are some photos of the BU Men’s game last week.

Games are free for students!!

Getaway Bus Trips

The Student Association at Binghamton has a great group that offers bus trips to various cities in the Northeast. It’s called Getaway Bus Trips. I’ve gone on the bus trips alot as an undergraduate. It helps when you don’t have a car. These trips are always day trips leaving from the Old University Union on a very nice bus. =)

I’ve added some photos below to the various places that I’ve actually been to through the Getaway Bus Trips. They’re fun and affordable.

Boston - Quincy Market

Washington, D.C.

The Getaway Bus Trips also go to New York City. Maybe if your lucky you can get to see the Lion King for $30! The bus also goes to Six Flags (an amusement park), the Syracuse Carousel Mall, Philadelphia, etc.

You can also check out our Upcoming Events at BU link on the top of the website for a list of upcoming Getaway Bus Trips!

Thanksgiving… Yummerz

Thanksgiving is coming in two weeks! The best part for me is the pumpkin pie!! But for those of you who don’t enjoy the cinnamon treat, you might want to head down to Manhattan for the Thanksgiving day parade.

Here are some photos of the parade from a year ago.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Living like a poor Graduate Student… Sure…

<<<<<< THIS POST IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!>>>>>>>

I think the best and most interesting way to convey student life in Bing is by regularly submit some random photos here (with captions).

Dorms

One of the best parts of college is never EVER having your own space!

Here is my room when I was a sophomore during my undergrad in Mountain View.

cimg0025.jpg cimg1300.jpg

Notice the millions of little nick nacks - the cramped space - my corner of the room.

Here is my room, well, last year. Oh, the joy of my OWN bathroom and my OWN room. Oh and minus the clutter.

On a final note:

Winter

Well, we are lacking some Fall weather right now, but Winter will definitely come… and here is a preview of our slushy future.
